Spending vs Saving?!
Is spending money REALLY worth it when you don't have it? Since Jan 09 we have had a TOUGH year financially.
Jeffs hours were cut for a few months making our weekly income go down by about 40-50% depending on the week.
Our electric bill shot up about 400 dollars in a matter of a month and stayed that high till April! We had a budget billing plan in affect which sucks because now we owe our electric company A LOT of money over the next 4 months to make up for that mistake!!
We got screwed by a refinance gone bad leaving us with a big loan to Jeff's parents!
Of course when all of this was going on we got a little behind and our marriage went through a VERY rocky patch!
We are getting back on track.....
The baby is all set thanks to my cousin giving me all her hand me downs. I may need a few things here and there but he has enough sheets, blankets, bedding, clothes, burp clothes, breast pads, creme, towels, diapers in nb, 1 and 2 to get us through till January at least!!
The kids have a good amount of clothes in the next size up come fall Trev will need new shoes(I got Aubrey's for FREE at Bobs using their clearance sale and my 10 dollar birthday gift) They may need a few items here and there but we will cross that road when we get there and shop sales.
I am starting to plan Aubrey's birthday party now even though it will be held in 3 months. If I can buy a little here and there find good deals etc it will save us a ton. We are also only doing cake and ice cream no food to save us a little here and there. Also Jeff hates grilling so it will help him stay calm and cool that day!!
I have our budget for the next two months...
We will be able to save some..We will be able to pay off 20% of the loan Jeff's parents gave us, we will be caught up on all bills but our electric(which we will only owe about 37% left of our original balance to the electric company, and we will actually have 26% of our holiday fun funded!
What will we do with this extra money you ask? I plan on trying to leave as much of it in the bank as possible. I do need a can of paint for the boys room, nursing bras etc so hopefully we can walk away with 25% of my end of year savings goal in my savings!!
Its time we cut out fast food(I still stop for an occasional coffee or whatever), we are doing good only eating out once a month, and I have stayed away from the mall just need to get better about buying what I WENT IN FOR at Target!) Hopefully I can stick with it. If I can we will be in such a good place by December

New rooms...
Well we went this weekend and picked out paint colors for the kids rooms. As we have it now we have 2 kids bedrooms..the smaller blue room is Trev's and the twice as big pink room is AUbrey's. Both rooms are painted over wall paper. SO Jeff is going to take a weekend or two on each room and get the walls fixed so they look great.
Aubrey will be moved into the smaller blue room. Aubreys NEW room will be painted BEHR Tinkerbell! I may do an accent wall of Behr's One enchanted evening! I just haven't decided yet. Or I may do it a two toned wall.
I will probably two something like this along the walls.
She already has a tink clock, disney framed pic, lamp, alarm clock, figures, etc so her room will be a little old for her now but she will grow into it. I just want to find a very cute purple bedding set for her.
Trevor and the baby will be sharing the BIG room and have Mickey Pants Red on 2 walls and have 100 Acre Sky on the other two walls.
Trev has a very nice framed super hero art work that my brother got him for x mas which will go up on one of the walls. Then I was thinking of doing stars or something like that as a decor for the walls. If I can find two matching bedding sets for the boys..
It will take some time to get it the way I want it but in the end it will be very cute and something we do not have to change in a year. I am SOOOO done painting and decorating!

YAY!
Nothing makes me more happy then a clean house and yard work. I've been working at cleaning up the yard as we should have done in the fall. I also have been weeding like a mad woman. It took some time for everything to start growing in as well!
Its taking time and we dont have as much mulch as we did last year or endless funds. But its coming along!!

Target
Around this time of year Target starts clearing out all the "old Labels" and transferring in the new ones. Right now all items seem to be around 30% off!
I could wait till they go 75% off but I feel that I would just make unnecessary trips to Target picking up something along the way and wasting gas so I went ahead and bought a few things I REALLY wanted now.
If I go back next Sunday and some stuff is there and cheaper I will buy that. I just think in the long run I am saving more money this way!

My attempt at gardening!
Last year my flowers were AWESOME! Sadly I planted flowers that do not come back. I am hoping with any birthday money I get I can make a trip to Home Depot and buy some flowers that will bloom every year. My beds look so bare and sad and I really miss the beautiful flowers...
Anyways this year I decided I would try to grow a few different types of fruit or veggies to see if I could get them to grow. If I make it out with one alive I will be happy!
I went today to put some more coffee grounds and leaves for compost. I also watered them and checked their progress. I weeded as well because I can tell what is weed and what is not.
This is half of my garden! Notice the nice trees as my fence! I have yet to decide what I want to use for a fence and do not want to spend the money if this is going to be a failure. Yet again with any birthday money I get I will buy some fencing as well. I threw a green strawberry at Jeff today as a BIG F U like ha ha they are growing!
Here is half of my bed 2 strawberries(one doing a lot better then the other), 1 tomato(doing awful has been since I planted it), 3 peppers because Max ruined one the first day(yet another reason I need fencing)

I have paper plates, water, stuff to make brownies and cookies for a dessert!

weepy
I am very weepy today!
Our refinance fell through! I kinda had the feeling all along but tried to NOT be pessimistic as JEff says however I was DEAD ON yet again!! My gut never fails me!
We are searching out our other options which is leading to Jeff calling me ALL the time and me stressing out a lot!
This stress is making me very unsettled and very sad!
Trevor had his bike parade at school today. He def was the slowest kid there. His bike is to small and I cannot afford a new one right now! He never gets to ride a bike because our drive way is a nasty hill, our neighborhood is a bunch of hills! So I cried because I cannot give him the attention that he deserves. I should be taking him to the park or whatever with his bike so he can get better but of course all my attention has to go to Aubrey and next this new baby!
THIS has me crying non stop!!
I also hate the fact that I cannot send him to school next year. Could we afford it yes. Would it make it VERY hard for us to live YES! That 250 bucks is our grocery budget, our gas budget, our cable, internet, phone, cells, and water bill(3months worth). So it just isn't a smart decision to send him.
Finally Jeff...My feelings as a horrible mother lately and our financial issues just have me so stressed and I know it is not his fault it is both of ours and the economy but I just think HOW DID WE LET IT GET THIS BAD?! I blame him! I shouldn't its not his fault in any way but I just want someone to point the finger at.
We find out the sex of the baby on Thursday. As happy as I am I am also scared and sad. We do not have a lot of money to support this kid. Thankfully we have the big stuff we need. We need some clothes, a few blankets etc but sad to say I have no money in the budget to buy this kid much. I have a few things but not nearly enough! I wish I could be ecstatic for this kid and be so thrilled I am just very scared for this baby! We are bringing it into a mess! But its not our fault how were we supposed to know that Jeffs job would slow down so much that our income would drop about 4k over 3 months less then what it normally is!
I guesss when it rains it pours. I normally keep stuff in but I just cannot anymore. It feels good to get it out!

17 week check up!
I went to the doc today! I have to date gained 5 pounds!! Not happy about that. I only want to gain 25 and I know in the end I tend to gain a few pounds each visit!! I have managed to stay under 30 pounds with all kids I hope this one is the same!!
She got a nice long reading of the heartbeat! It was in the 140's-150's!! Trev was so confused. He told the doc she needed to hear my heart beat in my neck. When we told him that's how we find the babies heartbeat he didn't understand how I could have two hearts beating lol!!
All is well...go back in a month and have my ultrasound next week :)

May Budget
Yea I am a little late but today I finally got to it! I have been slacking in the deals department!! I also have been slacking in the meal planning!! Hence my food, household and gas bills being THROUGH THE ROOF!! I am in the process of cleaning out my 2 stockpile rooms. I want to have a garage sale next week and in order to do that I need to get rid of all this unnecessary crap!!
I have a food budget of 250! I have my meal plan and do not need much from the store!!
I have a gas budget of 35 a week. 25 for the car, 10 for the truck! If I am not going to be around town I NEED to get better at switching cars for the day with Jeff!! I hate driving that gas guzzling truck! Plus I have been good at going nowhere :)
I also want to try and save around 250 dollars this month! Get caught up on all bills. I used to be so good at daily budgeting my checkbook, paying bills the second I got them etc. I have slacked and had a few late ones pass by me! NO MORE!!
If we want to live on ALL cash we don't have room for mess ups like that!
Please pray our re-fi goes through this week or next. Its been such a long process I just want it over and done with!

I was browsing the ads on Sunday and Staples caught my eye!! Jeff laughed hysterically at me for wanting a free label maker but he knows how OCD I am and this could be a very good thing :)

HP Multipurpose paper is 7.29 with a 6.29 reabte so 1.00 after rebate!!
You will have to spend 31.27 oop but to get back 30.27 will be WELL worth it for all that free stuff! I have done the Easy Saver rebate program and I love it because its online and you can watch it. Its also pretty quick turn around time :)

blood work
I had blood work drawn on Friday!! It was for all of the testing to determine if the baby has Tri 18, downs etc. I just got the call it came back negative!! Yay! I didn't expect to hear any news till my doc appt on Thursday. Such a breath of fresh air. I got a false positive with Trev and it was such a dramatic few days!

Well I think the time has come...Aubrey tells me constantly when she wants a clean bum...she says she peed or "puped". She sticks her hands in her diaper when she needs to be clean! If she doesn't have pants on chances are she doesn't have a diaper on either!! Today she went as far as to take MY underwear and put them on her after she ripped her diaper off! I cant train her this week or next week since I do have 2 appts this week, 1 next week, and then Trev is in school for 2 more weeks. But we may try to start potty training as soon as Trev is done with school. I want a FULL week at home no interruptions or chance for accidents!! How sweet would it be to only have 1 kid in diapers!! Let alone a child potty trained before her 2nd birthday!

It's a ......
GIRL!! Well I don't know for sure but I am about 80% sure that its a girl. I was right with Trev and Aubrey. I will be SHOCKED if its a boy I will put it that way. I am a little bummed because I REALLY wanted another boy! I have purchased some boy and girl things and it will KILL me to have to exchange the cute footballs, puppies etc. Not to mention I DO NOT want another Aubrey! She is 100% payback to anyone I ever pissed off!! We officially find out May 14th! I am dying to know. The next 2 weeks are going to kill me!!

1 year ago today...
We were getting ready to make the biggest decision of our lives. We had a walk through that I cried the whole way through then we went to the lawyers office and had to wait over 2 hours for the underwriters to get their crap together! But we finally signed papers and were HOME OWNERS for the very first time!! A big accomplishment for a one income family, very young, with 2 young children!!
